CatchMan, short for Catchment Management System, has been developed by rokit science and the Yarra Yarra Catchment Management Group to enable the Landcare community to better plan activites associated with Landcare.

CatchMan is a GIS system that allows members to view geographical datasets that are supplied by the regional centre in a ready-to-view format.

The user can use this information to query contour and elevation information, view aerial photography.

The user can also create and edit their own spatial data in the form of ESRI shapefiles.

Since 1998 the Yarra Yarra Catchment Group has seen the value of using digital information (elevation models and ortho photos) as a planning and recording tool when used in conjunction with GIS programs such as ArcView.
With the use of data provided by the Department of Land Administration and the co-operation and commitment of Rokit Science the group was able to develop a handy catchment tool: CatchMan Planner - which would enable farmers to be trained to record useful information for the catchment.
The software has been designed to assist landholders and policy makers understand and develop remedies for environmental problems in large catchment basins by allowing them to:
Distribute spatial data to landholders.
Collect community data from landholders.
Create employment throughout rural communities.
